Curriculum
Blossoming Buds Preschool’s curriculum provides a solid foundation of learning skills in all subject areas, while embracing the Whole Child. Throughout the year the students will be working on socialization, self-esteem, language arts, math, and science. In these subject areas we will be working on feelings, speaking, manners, letter recognition, letter writing, counting, weather, growth, geography, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, to name a few. We will also introduce drama and music.
We are never looking for mastery of a subject in all areas; rather we are exposing them to all subjects for future mastery. Blossoming Buds’ curriculum, at times, will be challenging and difficult for the students to fully comprehend. This is based on the Spiral Approach/Effect: introducing challenging ideas early that will be touched on throughout their education. (“…. Oh, I remember talking about that in preschool…”)
We will always make our lessons age appropriate for each individual student. During our curriculum time slot we will teach the lesson to the whole group, and then work with the students individually if needed. During this one-on-one time, the other students will be working on academic stations.
Our curriculum follows the Philosophy of NAEYC (National Association of the Education of Young Children). We also keep up with the Framework of Achieving the EALR’s (Essential Academic Learning Requirements) for Preschoolers, which are the guidelines that most K-8 schools follow for their curriculum. The students will be exposed to all three modalities of learning: auditory- learning through listening, visual- learning while watching and kinesthetic- learning through hands on activities. We consider the Free Choice time the students have during the day part of our curriculum. Learning to share, working with others, compromising, and talking with other children is essential for future school experiences, and to be a role-model in society.
